Orava hydroelectric power plant is located by the first large retention reservoir in the Váh catchment area with seasonal balancing of run-offs. This helps to catch storm waters from spring-time snow thawing and from summer-time storms and in winter improve the Váh river flow rates, thereby increasing the share of the electricity generated at all the lower-laying HPP´s over winter periods.
